Job summary

Outerdawn Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Unity Programmer to lead core gameplay systems for a live mobile title. You will design, implement, and own features, balancing technical excellence with player experience and maintainability.

You will collaborate with designers, artists, backend engineers, and production teams to build robust, data-driven systems that enable rapid iteration while ensuring performance on mobile devices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional game development experience, ideally within mobile gaming.
• Strong Unity and C# experience, with a deep understanding of how Unity works under the hood.
• Experience designing and developing complex gameplay systems in a production environment.
• Strong understanding of software architecture principles and the ability to make practical engineering trade-offs.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own core gameplay systems in Unity and C# that are robust, scalable, and easy for the wider team to build upon.
• Create flexible and data-driven systems that allow designers to iterate safely and efficiently.
• Make thoughtful architecture decisions, balancing technical requirements, development effort, and player experience.
• Write efficient, high-quality code with an understanding of mobile performance considerations, including memory usage, allocations, and optimisation opportunities.
• Profile and investigate performance issues, focusing optimisation efforts where they have the greatest impact.
• Work across a range of gameplay systems, such as UI, animation, economy, networking, persistence, and other core game technologies.
• Build systems that support a live game environment, including safe updates, content releases, and maintaining player stability over time.
