Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Mine Ventilation Engineer to design and optimize underground ventilation systems near Queenstown. You will ensure air quality, temperature, and humidity are managed to protect staff safety and productivity.

You will lead ventilation surveys, model flows using Ventsim or Minescape, and collaborate with safety teams to address risks. A strong background in thermodynamics and regulatory knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering with a ventilation focus.
• 5+ years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, underground.
• Experience with ventilation modeling software (Ventsim, Minescape).
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for mine ventilation and environmental control.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, and optimize mine ventilation systems, including airflow distribution and fan selection.
• Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dust, gases) and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct ventilation surveys and develop strategies to improve air quality and thermal comfort.
• Manage installation, operation, and maintenance of ventilation infrastructure (fans, ducting, seals).
• Develop and implement dust suppression and control measures.
• Collaborate with safety teams on ventilation risks and emergency planning.
• Maintain records of ventilation surveys and system performance.
