Job summary

PwC New Zealand in Auckland seeks a Mid to Senior Legal Counsel - Technology to join the Office of the General Counsel. This inhouse role focuses on complex technology agreements, privacy and regulatory matters, and advising on AI-enabled services.

You will collaborate with Risk, Procurement, and business teams to achieve commercially sound outcomes in a fast-paced environment. A NZ practising certificate and 6+ years PQE are preferred.

Qualifications

• NZ legal practising certificate or eligible to obtain one.
• 6+ years PQE in commercial and/or technology law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Experience advising on technology-related contracts (systems integration, ERP, software licensing).
• Experience supporting large-scale engagements with multiple stakeholders.
• Commercially pragmatic mindset balancing risk, relationships and business objectives.
• Preferred: experience negotiating AI clauses in AI-enabled contracts.
• Understanding data privacy and regulatory considerations in commercial arrangements.
• Experience supporting agile or hybrid delivery models.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate complex technology agreements (SI/ERP, SoWs, MSPs, SaaS/licensing).
• Support bids, tenders and strategic client contracts for workable outcomes.
• Advise on AI-enabled services and develop standard AI contracting positions.
• Partner with Risk and Procurement on supplier negotiations and vendor risk.
• Provide guidance on privacy/data handling in commercial arrangements.
