Job summary

Cook Brothers Construction in Queenstown, NZ is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to lead design and analysis across commercial projects. You will work on site, collaborate with architects and consultants, and influence projects from early design through completion.

The role requires Chartered Professional Engineer status, a structural engineering degree, and 10+ years of hands-on experience with steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in structural design and commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge across steel, concrete, timber, and masonry construction methods.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software and CAD platforms.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design, analysis, and calculations for commercial projects.
• Design and coordinate structural systems in concrete, steel, timber, and masonry, including temporary works.
• Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Carry out site inspections to ensure construction aligns with design and NZ Building Code requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout all project phases.
• Identify structural risks early and develop cost‑effective solutions.
