Job summary

Fulton Hogan is seeking an experienced Pavement – Senior Site Engineer to lead daily delivery on the Ōtaki to North Levin – Te Pae o Tararua project. You will oversee quality, planning, set-out and safe construction, working with supervisors and engineers to turn designs into reality and keep work moving on schedule.

You will bring strong pavement experience, contribute to safety and QA, and support subcontractors and suppliers to meet programme milestones on a Roads of National Significance

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, minimum NZQA Level 7.
• At least 2 years’ post-graduate experience in heavy civil construction or major infrastructure projects.
• Must have experience in pavements, including pavement construction and/or in-situ stabilisation.
• Strong planning skills with ability to develop methodologies, short-term programmes and practical delivery plans.
• Proven subcontractor management and resource optimisation (materials, plant, labour).
• Collaborative attitude with solid communication skills and genuine interest in building complex civil structures safely and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Check construction against drawings and specs, flagging issues early and helping resolve them.
• Carry out set-out and as-built for pavement layers, stabilised areas, ensuring accurate levels and geometry.
• Work closely with JV partners to align programmes, resolve interface issues and maintain standards.
• Prepare and maintain quality documentation, pavement and stabilisation QA, test records and ITPs for assigned work areas.
• Monitor productivity, quantities and progress, providing accurate reporting to the project team.
• Help coordinate subcontractors and suppliers so work fronts run smoothly and safely.
• Contribute to site safety by participating in pre-starts, risk assessments and incident reporting.

We’re looking for an experience Pavement – Senior Site Engineer to join us on the major project Ōtaki to North Levin - Te Pae o Tararua.

You’ll bring strong pavement experience and be trusted to oversee quality, planning, set-out and day-to-day delivery of construction works safely on time and to specification. Working shoulder to shoulder with supervisors, project engineers and the wider crew, you’ll help turn design into reality and keep work moving in the right direction.

This is a big one: a Roads of National Significance project!

The Ōtaki to North Levin (Te Pae o Tararua) project focuses on upgrading the transport link along State Highway 1 (SH1) between Ōtaki and North Levin to improve road safety, reduce congestion, enhance travel efficiency, and support regional economic growth. It is one of the Government’s Roads of National Significance and is being undertaken by two Alliances – the north (delivered by partners Fulton Hogan , HEB, WSP and Aurecon) and south (delivered by partners Downer, McConnell Dowell, Beca and Tonkin+Taylor).

This exciting new four-lane 24.8km highway project will dramatically improve safety and resilience, providing better access to walking and cycling facilities for those moving around or through the Horowhenua and Kāpiti districts.

In addition to the above you will:
