Job summary

Fulton Hogan Ltd invites applications for a Structures Project Engineer to join the Levin team on the Ōtaki to North Levin - Te Pae o Tararua project. Lead multi-disciplinary teams on reinforced concrete structures, bridges and related works, with a focus on safety, quality and delivery against programme and cost targets.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (NZQF Level 7+) and at least 5 years’ experience in heavy civil projects, with strong stakeholder engagement and mentoring

Qualifications

  • Hold a bachelor/diploma in civil engineering at NZQF Level 7+.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Project Engineer/Senior Site Engineer in structures civil portfolio (reinforced concrete, bridges, retaining walls, piling, treatment plants/pipelines, State highway flyovers).
  • Experience working with contractors, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness with understanding of programme, cost, quality and risk management.
  • Excellent leadership qualities and interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style with mentoring and development focus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage teams and subcontractors within your area and coordinate with other teams to optimise resources and efficiency.
  • Plan execution of works and develop construction methodologies for all elements.
  • Provide monthly forecast of cost to complete to commercial manager and percentage complete to planner.
  • Provide technical advice and resolve on-site issues as they arise.
  • Review drawings, specifications and construction methodologies.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy site and develop/ensure compliance with management systems.
  • Monitor expenses, process invoices and contribute to financial reporting.
  • Undertake regular inspections and drive health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

## Project Engineer - Structures / LevinApply: Levin: Full time: Posted Today: End Date: October 30, 2026 (29 days left to apply): R26939**Mō te tūranga | About the role**We’re looking for an experienced **Structures** - **Project Engineer** to join us on the major project **Ōtaki to North Levin - Te Pae o Tararua.** **This is a big one - a Roads of National Significance project!**The Ōtaki to North Levin (Te Pae o Tararua) project focuses on upgrading the transport link along State Highway 1 (SH1) between Ōtaki and North Levin to improve road safety, reduce congestion, enhance travel efficiency, and support regional economic growth. It is one of the Government’s Roads of National Significance and is being undertaken by two Alliances – the north (delivered by partners **Fulton Hogan**, HEB, WSP and Aurecon) and south (delivered by partners Downer, McConnell Dowell, Beca and Tonkin+Taylor).
