Job summary

NZ Ministry of Justice in Wellington CBD is seeking a Senior Reporting Analyst for a 24-month fixed-term, full-time role. You will drive analytics, modelling, evaluation, and reporting to support the Te Au Reka programme, providing evidence-based insights for strategy and investment decisions.

You will collaborate with management, senior advisors and external partners to deliver high-quality analysis and written communications, with a strong emphasis on rigorous methodology and data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Demonstrable curiosity and a strong commitment to learning and development.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret complex documents, including financial, numerical and business information.
  • Ability to use digital tools and data required for the role efficiently and effectively.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication and editing skills.
  • Advanced technical skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis, business analysis and data engineering.

Te Haeata/The Opportunity

Reporting to the Programme Finance Manager, you will be responsible for driving the development of evidence and advice to advance programme goals. This will involve deliverables across one or more domains including analytics, modelling, evaluation, and reporting. You will provide expert advice on methodology, standards, commissioning, and deliver high quality analysis and written communications. The role collaborates across Te Au Reka group to deliver evidence‑based insights that support strategy, investment and prioritisation across the programme, strengthen team capability, and meet the Ministry's public accountabilities. The Senior Reporting Analyst works closely with Management, Senior Advisors and other Analysts within the Te Au Reka group and may also include managing relationships with external partners and stakeholders.

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Demonstrable curiosity and a strong commitment to learning and development.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret complex documents, including financial, numerical and business information.
  • Ability to use digital tools and data required for the role efficiently and effectively.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication and editing skills
  • Advanced technical skills in one or more of the following:
    • Quantitative analysis and modelling
    • Qualitative analysis
    • Business analysis and process engineering
    • Data engineering
    • Data visualisation.

The salary range for this role is between $99,208 and $135,539 (J07) with the likely appointing range between $101,399 and $121,112 based on skills and experience.
