Job summary

ClearPoint is seeking a Contract Senior Engineer (Python, AI & Integration) to join our Auckland-based team. This 3-month contract offers hybrid work from Auckland or Melbourne and focuses on building the integration layer enabling AI agents to interact with internal systems at scale.

You'll design Python-based tooling, develop backend logic, and implement API integrations with FastAPI and Pydantic. The role requires independent working style within a cross-functional team and is ideal for

Qualifications

Strong Python backend development and production-grade tooling.
Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and integration patterns.
Hands-on with FastAPI and Pydantic or ability to learn quickly.
Exposure to building tools for AI/LLM-based systems is a plus.
Ability to work autonomously in distributed, cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Designing and building a library of Python-based tools for AI agents to fetch and act on data.
Developing backend logic and system handshakes to connect AI agents with internal APIs and data sources.
Creating clean, well-structured integration tooling using FastAPI-style patterns and Pydantic models.
Collaborating with data scientists, backend engineers, designers, and business analysts to align on technical direction.
Solving integration challenges with evolving architecture as AI capabilities scale.
