Job summary

Madison Recruitment in Auckland is seeking a Senior Purchasing & Supply Chain Coordinator to lead autonomous purchasing, inventory control and supplier relations across multiple warehouse locations. You will forecast demand, manage international and local freight, and drive continuous process improvements.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this role offers a standalone charge with impact on cashflow, stock availability and system accuracy.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory or supply chain.
• Standalone/sole-charge experience is preferred.
• Experience managing both international and local purchasing and freight.
• Advanced inventory management and stock forecasting capability.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with ERP, inventory management and reporting systems.
• Commercially minded with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Managing local and international purchasing activities.
• Coordinating freight, shipping and stock movements across multiple locations.
• Monitoring inventory levels, forecasting demand and preventing stock outages.
• Managing supplier relationships, ordering and purchasing processes.
• Overseeing stock transfers, stock control and inventory reporting.

Our client is a well-established New Zealand business operating across multiple warehouse locations nationwide. They are seeking a Senior Purchasing & Supply Chain Coordinator to step into a critical sole-charge position supporting purchasing, inventory management, logistics and supplier relationships.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is an ideal opportunity for an experienced supply chain professional who enjoys autonomy, thrives on accountability, and isn't afraid to challenge existing processes where improvements can be made.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing local and international purchasing activities
• Coordinating freight, shipping and stock movements across multiple warehouse locations
• Monitoring inventory levels, forecasting demand and preventing stock outages
• Managing supplier relationships, ordering and purchasing processes
• Overseeing stock transfers, stock control and inventory reporting
• Maintaining product, pricing and costing information across business systems
• Supporting cashflow management through effective purchasing planning
• Ensuring product and supplier compliance requirements are maintained
• Working closely with key stakeholders across operations, finance and sales
• Contributing to system and process improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years' experience in a purchasing, procurement, inventory or supply chain position
• Previous experience operating in a standalone or sole-charge environment
• Strong experience managing both international and local purchasing and freight
• Advanced inventory management and stock forecasting capability
• Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and constructively challenging the status quo
• Strong systems capability and an interest in process improvement
• Experience working with ERP, inventory management and reporting systems
• A proactive, resilient and commercially minded approach
