Job summary

The Property Group Limited (TPG) in Hamilton is seeking a Senior Property Consultant to join our busy team and help grow our Waikato portfolio. You will work across local councils, central government and the energy sector, delivering complex property solutions.

With around 7+ years of property experience and a strong understanding of government work, you will build trusted client relationships, lead acquisitions for Waka Kotahi, and contribute to the growth of our nationwide property team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of property experience with ability to work independently on complex matters.
• Strong technical understanding of central and local government property work and relevant legislation (Public Works Act 1981).
• Experience delivering acquisition work and supporting disposals is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work across a varied portfolio for local councils, central government and the energy sector.
• Lead and deliver acquisition work for NZ Transport Agency - Waka Kotahi, and support disposal work when needed.
• Build trusted relationships with existing and new clients across Waikato, Bay of Plenty and beyond.

Our property consultancy team are a talented group who bring expertise, practical thinking and energy to the work they do for clients every day. This is an opportunity to join our Hamilton team, get stuck into significant property projects across the region and help shape what comes next. In this role, you will:

About you

We are looking for someone who can quickly take ownership of complex work, bring energy to building the business and strengthen relationships across our client network. People leadership experience is not essential from day one, but experience or a genuine aspiration to lead others would be valuable as the role develops.

You will stand out to us if you have the following

With around 7+ years of property experience, you will be highly competent and confident working independently on complex property matters. You will bring a strong technical understanding of central and local government property work and relevant legislation, particularly the Public Works Act 1981. Experience delivering acquisition work will be a strong advantage, alongside the ability to support disposals and varied council or energy-sector work.

You will be commercially minded and proactive – someone who enjoys getting out into the market, identifying opportunities and turning conversations into new work. You will build genuine, trusted relationships with existing and prospective clients and deliver a consistently strong client experience. A background in consultancy, alongside a property or law degree, would be an advantage but is not essential.

You will be an excellent communicator who takes pride in delivering quality work. As a senior consultant, you will show initiative, support colleagues through advice and peer review, and be comfortable rolling up your sleeves when priorities shift. You will take ownership of your contribution within multi-team projects and work collaboratively across the business
