Job description

Deliver the work. Help build the region.

Seipp is growing its presence across the Lower North Island, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager who wants to play a key role in what comes next.

This is more than a traditional project delivery position.

You will lead complex infrastructure work while also helping build client relationships, identify future opportunities and establish Seipp as a trusted contractor throughout the region.

You will not be stepping into a fully established branch with everything already mapped out. You will be one of the key people helping us build it.

For the right person, there is a genuine pathway toward an Operations Manager role as the region grows.

The opportunity

There is real work already underway.

Our current Lower North Island projects include:

  • A $5.2 million design and build headworks upgrade at the Carterton Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • Replacement and upgrade of critical firefighting infrastructure at RNZAF Base Ohakea, serving three aircraft hangars, the motor transport workshops and the air movements terminal

Both projects bring together civil construction, mechanical systems and complex work within operational environments.

The role will initially involve regular travel to Carterton and Ohakea, with future projects expected across the wider Wellington and Lower North Island region.

About the role

Your responsibilities will span two connected areas: successful project delivery and the continued development of Seipp’s Lower North Island business.

You will provide senior leadership across project safety, quality, programme, commercial performance and client relationships.

Alongside delivery, you will build connections across the local infrastructure market, identify upcoming opportunities, contribute to tender strategy and help develop the pipeline needed to support sustainable regional growth.

As the region develops, the scope of your leadership can grow with it.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead complex civil infrastructure projects from tender handover through to completion
  • Maintain oversight of project budgets, forecasting, cost control, variations and claims
  • Administer contracts and protect Seipp’s commercial position
  • Lead planning and delivery across civil, mechanical and specialist disciplines
  • Build senior relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders
  • Lead, mentor and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers and site teams
  • Identify commercial, technical and delivery risks early
  • Contribute to tendering, client engagement and new-business development
  • Identify future project opportunities across the Lower North Island
  • Help shape the people, systems and capability required for a growing region
  • Support the development of Seipp’s regional strategy and reputation
What we’re looking for

You will be a proven infrastructure project leader with the commercial judgement, technical credibility and relationship skills to influence both projects and future work.

You will ideally bring:

  • Significant experience leading complex civil infrastructure projects in New Zealand
  • Strong commercial and financial-management capability
  • A thorough understanding of New Zealand construction contracts and contract administration
  • Practical construction knowledge and sound technical judgement
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors
  • A strong record of managing client and consultant relationships
  • The ability to identify opportunities and contribute credibly to new-business conversations
  • Strong planning, risk-management and decision-making capability
  • A visible, collaborative and accountable leadership style
  • A genuine commitment to coaching and developing others
  • Knowledge of the Lower North Island infrastructure market and established regional relationships
  • The flexibility to travel throughout the region as projects require

Experience in water, wastewater, pump stations, process infrastructure or projects combining civil and mechanical construction would be advantageous. We are also interested in senior leaders from other technically complex infrastructure sectors.

Why Seipp?

Seipp is an award-winning national infrastructure contractor known for delivering technically challenging work and finding practical solutions.

We combine the systems and technical capability required for major infrastructure delivery with the agility and self-perform capability of a proven Tier 2 contractor.

When you join Seipp, you will receive:

  • A competitive senior-level salary package
  • A company vehicle
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working where project commitments allow
  • Ongoing professional and leadership development
  • The opportunity to shape a growing regional business
  • A genuine pathway toward Operations Manager as the region develops
  • Support from Seipp’s national operational, commercial and technical leadership
  • A team culture that values straight talking, collaboration and doing things properly
Ready to build something beyond the project?

This is an opportunity to lead meaningful infrastructure work while helping establish the future of Seipp in the Lower North Island.
