Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is seeking a senior Product Development Engineer to join the Airvo Optiflow team in Auckland. You will lead design, testing and documentation for high-volume medical devices, mentoring others and collaborating across functions to move concepts into customers’ hands.

We expect 7+ years in medical device product development, experience with prototyping, injection moulding, and regulatory standards, and a mechanical engineering degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 7+ years product development experience in the medical device industry or a similarly complex engineering environment.
• Experience with new product development, prototyping, injection moulding, and DFM practices.
• Knowledge of medical device regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed product design, validation and documentation from concept to handover.
• Mentor and guide other team members across functions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-volume products like Airvo Optiflow.

Job description:

We’re seeking a senior/experienced Product Development Engineer to join the Airvo Optiflow team. Our team’s responsibilities include the high-volume products we provide today as well as creating a pipeline of new development to enable growth in the nasal high flow space.

We are looking for a motivated engineer who is passionate about problem solving. Your excellent communication and collaboration skills will enable you to work both within the team and across various functions to deliver products from concept into the hands of our customers. In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to detailed product design, technical leadership, and mentoring others in the team.

About You

We are looking for applicants with 7+ years product development experience in the medical device industry or a similarly complex engineering environment. You have experience with some or all the following:

• New product development
• Designing, machining and moulding prototypes
• Injection moulding and other manufacturing methods
• Fostering a culture of good DFM practices
• Detailed design and specification developmentProduct testing and documentation
• Medical device regulations and standards
• Cero skills will be highly advantageous
• A mechanical engineering degree or equivalent tertiary qualification
