Job summary

Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment NZ (MBIE) is seeking a Senior Advisor to design regulatory systems and translate policy into real NZ solutions. The role is fixed-term until 24 December 2026, based in Wellington or Christchurch.

You will lead complex projects, manage stakeholders, and coach team members while operating within the machinery of government. An autonomous, collaborative environment with broad policy impact awaits.

Qualifications

• Deploys policy skills to analyse complex problems and generate workable solutions.
• Experience in scoping and leading the delivery of complex projects.
• Uses project management skills to support effective and timely project delivery.
• Comfortable in managing ambiguity successfully to identify a path forward, and takes a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience in coaching, supporting and mentoring to build team capability.
• Can successfully navigate machinery of government processes, and has an understanding of regulatory frameworks.
• Delivers clear, concise advice tailored to the target audience.
• Welcomes and provides feedback and eager to learn and grow.
