Job summary

Air New Zealand Limited is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong DevOps experience to join our DevOps Chapter. You will design scalable cloud infrastructure and platform services, lead CI/CD development, and champion automation across a multi-cloud environment (AWS and Azure).

You will collaborate with software engineers, SREs, and security to deliver secure, observable platforms. A passion for mentoring and shaping platform strategy is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software or platform engineering, with microservices and cloud-native development.
• Experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure.
• CI/CD principles, DevSecOps, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Hands-on with Azure DevOps toolsets and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS).
• Fluency with modern languages (Python, Java, Go, Bash).
• Knowledge of monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
• AWS or Azure certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable cloud infrastructure and platform services enabling product teams to deploy rapidly.
• Lead CI/CD platform development across multiple applications.
• Champion automation and Infrastructure as Code for reliability and consistency.
• Collaborate with software engineers, SREs and security to deliver secure, observable platforms.
• Mentor engineers to grow DevOps and platform capabilities.
• Influence platform strategy and tooling decisions across the organization.
• Support platforms like Kubernetes (EKS), ECS, API Gateway, and Kafka for performance and reliability.
