Job summary

Transpower in Wellington, NZ is seeking a specialist payroll subject matter expert to ensure 1,100+ employees are paid accurately and on time. You will work with HR, Finance and IT, and support payroll system upgrades and reporting.

You bring five years of payroll experience, NZPPA certification, and deep knowledge of NZ payroll legislation. The role is based on-site with calendar flexibility and strong focus on accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of payroll experience with NZPPA certification or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge of Dayforce aPay, Oracle or similar enterprise payroll/HRIS.
• Strong understanding of NZ employment legislation and its payroll applications.
• Experience with payroll audits, reconciliations and internal controls.
• Ability to communicate complex payroll matters in plain English.
• Experience supporting payroll system upgrades and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Manage fortnightly and off-cycle payroll, including changes, leave, benefits and deductions.
• Provide payroll advice and internal/external reporting with confidentiality and accuracy.
• Process ACC claims and reconcile payroll payments to IRD and other authorities.
• Support general ledger reconciliations and year-end processes.
• Assist the Finance Systems team with payroll system issues and upgrades.
• Improve processes, document workflows and train colleagues.
