Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive the development of payment systems and lead a team of engineers. You will set technical direction, mentor developers, and collaborate across product and technology teams to deliver scalable payment solutions.

You will bridge technology leadership with squads, define coding and DevOps standards, advocate new technologies, and lead quality uplift initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a leadership or senior developer role.
• Strong experience with Java-based full stack development and microservices.
• Proven ability to design scalable architectures for payment systems.
• Solid knowledge of Quality Engineering standards and automation frameworks.
• Experience mentoring and leading developers in Agile environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
