Job summary

New Zealand Police seeks a Senior Open Source Analyst to join the Open Source Intelligence Group (OSIG) in Wellington. You will mentor staff, deliver high-quality OSINT products, and act as an OSINT tradecraft expert to support the police analyst community.

Your goal is to ensure decision makers have the best information available to achieve our business goals. Based in Wellington CBD, you will work with the Manager to guide a team, train colleagues, and contribute to OSINT tradecraft and policy

About the role

The Open Source Intelligence Group (OSIG), based in the Wellington CBD, is seeking a suitably skilled and qualified person to fill the Senior Open Source Analyst role. After 7 successful years, OSIG is seeking an experienced intelligence analyst with a deep passion for open source intelligence to help the team continue to build on its successes. Your job will be to work closely with the Manager to mentor staff, deliver high-quality OSINT products, support training, and be an OSINT tradecraft and subject matter expert for the Police analyst community. Your goal is to ensure decision makers have the best information available to achieve the goals outlined in our business

Key Accountabilities

• Excellent OSINT research and analysis skills.
• Enthusiastic about mentoring and training staff (OSIG and other workgroups) in OSINT collection and analysis.
• Delivery of timely and accurate OSINT products to inform organisational decision making.
• Interested in discovering and sharing new OSINT tradecraft.
• Able to support OSINT training and the skill development of partner teams.
• Working effectively with a wide range of internal and external partners at various levels.
• The capacity to engage and contribute to work on policy and compliance matters.
• Demonstrate successful management of competing priorities and demands.
• Champion diversity of thought and perspective.

What you’ll bring

• Knowledge and experience of best practice OSINT processes including the application of collection and analytical techniques.
• Strong relationship management skills including engaging stakeholders in information sharing and collaboration.
• Experience with supporting a team in high pressure environments whilst delivering high quality outputs.
• Proven training and mentoring skills.

Special requirements

This role is based in the Wellington area. Some travel may be required.

• NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:

• A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS. Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $102,808 and $108,894 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
