Job summary

New Zealand Police Auckland intelligence team seeks an Intelligence Analyst to identify crime trends, apply analytical techniques, and deliver clear written and verbal briefings to varied audiences. The role requires a tertiary qualification, Auckland residency or willingness to relocate, a full driver license, and occasional shift work.

Do you want to prevent crime and harm, and contribute to making New Zealand (NZ) the safest country? As an intelligence professional in the NZ Police this will be your focus every day.

Tāmaki Makaurau Intelligence Team supports Police leaders and officers to prevent crime and harm through exceptional policing. Our mahi is used to inform deployment of resources, understand the criminal environment and crime problems, and facilitate evidence-based action and prevention.

As an Intelligence Analyst, you will demonstrate professional curiosity, an adaptive approach to set tasks and the ability to provide insight and foresight on a range of complex problems and issues. You will use your critical thinking and team-focused approach to support a positive and productive team culture that is focused on service delivery excellence.

Your willingness to get out and talk to people, and critically and thoughtfully engage with what you find, will enhance your understanding of the required Intelligence contribution to ensure positive outcomes for Tamaki Makaurau.

Security Clearance Requirements

To be eligible for the Police National Headquarters roles, you must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:

NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:

• A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
• A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $88,179.00 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
