Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is transforming its mobile experience and seeks an experienced mobile engineer to drive end-to-end delivery of production solutions from design to deployment. You will champion code quality, security, and debt reduction while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

We value deep mobile expertise (iOS/Android), exposure to DevOps and AI-infused workflows, and the ability to mentor peers.

Qualifications

• At least 5+ years of professional engineering experience in iOS or Android mobile app development.
• Experience in DevOps such as CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and deployment automation.
• Proficient in unit testing, code reviews, and debugging.
• Ability to break down complex problems and deliver practical solutions.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain mobile applications and integration solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly, with after-hours support as required.
• Ensure best practice in design, coding standards, performance and security.
• Collaborate with project teams from concept through delivery to meet requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and peers.
• Create and maintain documentation throughout the SDLC to support transparency and knowledge sharing.
• Implement changes aligned with design specifications and evolving business needs.
• Analyse recurring issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Maintain and refine support procedures to minimize downtime.
• Contribute to release and deployment processes with governance standards.
• Implement automated testing and ensure high-quality code through code reviews and CI practices.
