Alignerr is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to author high-fidelity reasoning traces that teach LLMs to reason step-by-step. This fully remote, flexible contract role offers 10–40 hours per week and independent, asynchronous work on your own schedule.

You should bring deep ML expertise, a knack for decomposing complex problems, and strong technical writing skills to document structured decision processes and evaluation strategies.

Qualifications

• Experienced in machine learning, AI research, or a closely related technical field.
• Ability to break down hard problems into explicit, logical, and well-documented steps.
• Familiar with LLM evaluation methodologies, training pipelines, or RLHF-style feedback systems.
• Clear, precise technical writer who can make complex reasoning legible.
• Detail-oriented and rigorous with self-directed work style.
• Self-directed and dependable when working independently.

Responsibilities

• Author complex, high-fidelity reasoning traces for LLMs to plan, use tools, and decide.
• Break down real-world problems into clear, structured decision steps.
• Review and refine traces from other contributors for quality and depth.
• Design data strategies to guide models through multi-step, ambiguous tasks.
• Provide architectural insights to improve handling of edge cases and failures.
• Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule.
