Job summary

Snowy River Gold Mine near Reefton on the West Coast of New Zealand is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our growing operation. You will contribute to mine planning, scheduling, and technical leadership as we enter a key phase of production.

The role offers a competitive remuneration package, private health insurance, and an accommodation allowance, with an 8 on/6 off roster and company bus transport to site. Opportunity to shape a developing underground operation from the ground.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' underground mining experience.
• Experience in narrow vein underground mining operations.
• Strong mine planning and scheduling capability.
• Experience using Deswik or similar mine planning software.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce development and stope designs that maximise ore recovery, productivity, and safety.
• Develop practical mine plans aligned with geological, geotechnical, and operational requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks during planning process.
• Maintain mine design records and engineering documentation.
• Ensure timely delivery of plans to support operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain weekly, monthly, and rolling three-month production schedules.
• Monitor mining activities against plan and provide variance analysis and recommendations.
• Support operations with technical guidance to achieve production targets safely and efficiently.
• Communicate scheduling risks and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
• Produce daily and weekly performance reports.
• Analyse production data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Work with geology, geotechnical, survey, and operations teams to deliver practical engineering solutions.
• Promote accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement in underground mining methods.
