Job summary

Contact Energy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead support for the Taupō geothermal fleet, partnering with operations and leadership to ensure safe, reliable asset performance across lifecycle.

You’ll mentor engineers, shape standards, and drive continuous improvement while navigating regulated environments and risk management. A strong engineering background and 10+ years in heavy industry are desirable.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Solid experience in power generation or heavy industry, ideally 10+ years.
• Deep expertise in mechanical discipline such as heavy rotating equipment, pressure parts, or functional safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead support for Contact’s geothermal fleet, partnering with operations, projects and leadership.
• Provide trusted engineering advice and guide decision-making.
• Mentor engineers, shape standards and processes, lift capability across Generation and Trading.
• Balance on-site hands-on problem solving with strategic influence and safety focus.
