Job summary

Auckland Council’s Birkenhead Library is seeking a Senior Library & Council Services Assistant. This 30-hour, part-time role focuses on serving customers, supporting programmes, and building relationships to promote library services within the Kaipātiki Local Board area.

The role emphasizes digital literacy, community engagement, and strong communication. You’ll join a team dedicated to delivering inclusive, high-quality frontline library services.

Qualifications

• Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to deliver and promote services.
• Proficient with information resources and devices; comfortable using technology.
• Excellent communication with a people-focused approach and empathy.
• Knowledge of Te ao Māori or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers in a busy library setting.
• Support planning and delivery of library events and programmes.
