Job summary

WSP New Zealand is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support bid and project delivery teams across Auckland or Wellington. You will review and negotiate engineering services contracts, subcontracts, and joint venture or alliance agreements, while proactively managing risk and regulatory compliance.

Ideally, you will have 7+ years PQE in construction or engineering sectors, a Law degree, and eligibility for the NZ Practising Certificate.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' PQE in construction/infrastructure, IT or professional services.
• Law degree and eligibility to hold a Practising Certificate with the NZLS.
• Extensive experience reviewing and negotiating engineering services or construction contracts, subcontracts, JV/alliances, and related commercial agreements.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate engineering services contracts, subcontracts, JV and alliance agreements.
• Proactively managing risk and regulatory compliance (health & safety, competition law).
• Advise project delivery teams on contractual issues during delivery.
• Advise on WSP insurance programme and manage claims with insurers.
• Develop and implement internal legal training and education programmes.
• Provide timely, commercial and robust legal advice to contribute to NZ projects.
