Job summary

Air New Zealand is looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to lead iOS development, crafting scalable Swift/SwiftUI apps that power millions of journeys. You’ll mentor engineers, influence architecture, and drive modern engineering practices in a fast-paced, iconic NZ brand.

You’ll collaborate with product and design teams to deliver high-impact mobile experiences, optimize performance, and ensure secure, future-ready platforms across digital travel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years iOS development experience in large-scale environments.
• Strong expertise in Swift and SwiftUI with clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with backend-for-frontend patterns and cloud platforms (AWS) is a plus.
• Solid understanding of mobile architecture and design patterns.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
• Proven problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver robust iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn ideas into high-impact solutions.
• Improve app performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs and performance challenges.
• Contribute to architectural decisions for secure, scalable mobile platforms.
• Champion modern engineering practices including CI/CD and testing.
