Job summary

Christchurch City Council seeks a Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to lead the delivery and management of the Council's infrastructure and cloud environments, ensuring reliability and security in line with IT strategy.

You will develop platforms, scripts and templates, support automation, deploy the computing strategy, and provide technical leadership while mentoring other engineers in infrastructure and cloud services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in ICT with specialised infrastructure or senior IT role.
• Strong knowledge of Azure public cloud and Windows Server environments.
• Experience leading infrastructure/cloud delivery and mentoring others.

Our Digital Service Operations department is responsible for the strategic leadership of the Digital Service Operations and related programmes, across the Council IT Infrastructure and IT. Sitting within this unit is the newly created role of Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer.

This key role will lead the delivery and management of Council’s infrastructure and cloud environments, ensuring they are reliable, secure and aligned with our strategic IT requirements.

This work looks like:

• Contributing to the development of platform, scripts and templates.
• Assisting with tool selection and facilitation of automation where possible.
• Deployment of the Council's computing strategy along with requisite management and monitoring.
• Assisting with all application deployment in all environments.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring at a senior level on information relating to Infrastructural and Cloud services.
• Working in collaboration with the other System engineers who look after our technical and security environments.

As our Senior Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer, we’re seeking someone with the right qualifications and experience in:

• Strong knowledge of Azure public cloud and Windows Server operating environments
• Current experience working as an Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the ICT industry, with specialised experience in IT infrastructure or experience in a comparable senior role within the ICT industry

• Hours of work - Monday to Friday
• Position - Fixed-term for 12-months. Full-time
• Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga Civic Office, 53 Hereford Street
• Salary-The salary band for this position goes from $105,450 to $117,167 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
