Job summary

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council in Napier is seeking a Senior Implementation Advisor to join the Policy & Regulation group. This permanent, full-time role focuses on translating policy and regulatory requirements into practical implementation solutions, working with internal teams and external stakeholders.

You will lead and contribute to cross-council projects, represent the Council on national working groups, and build relationships with landowners, communities and partner agencies to deliver

Qualifications

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in resource management, public policy or related field.
  • A minimum of 5–7 years' experience in a regulatory or policy role.
  • Proven experience managing projects and implementing complex statutory processes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional advice to support implementation of national and regional policy and regulatory requirements.

  • Represent the Council on national working groups and collaborate with government agencies and authorities.

About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:

We are looking for a Senior Implementation Advisor to join the Implementation Team within the Policy and Regulation Group. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Napier.


The Senior Implementation Advisor plays a key role in providing professional advice to support the implementation of national and regional policy and regulatory requirements. Working across the organisation and with external stakeholders, you will contribute to implementation processes that help the Policy and Regulation Group achieve its objectives, while building and maintaining effective relationships that support successful outcomes.


Working alongside the Manager Implementation, you will participate in and, at times, lead internal working groups and project teams, providing technical input and advice to support efficient implementation. This includes providing advice to cross-council teams involved in the implementation of the Spatial Planning Act and Natural Environment Act, as well as other policy and regulatory initiatives. You will also represent Council on national working groups and collaborate with government agencies, territorial authorities, regional councils, and other stakeholders to support the effective implementation of policy and regulatory requirements.

You will be an experienced policy, planning, or regulatory professional who enjoys working in complex environments and turning legislative and policy requirements into practical implementation solutions. You will bring strong relationship management skills, including proven experience in engaging in and building relationships with community members, landowners and partner organisations.


You will also have:

The salary range for this role is between $104,635 to $123,100 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
