Job summary

APD Global in New Zealand is seeking a Senior or Principal Transmission Lines Engineer to join our GridLinkx team from any NZ location (Auckland/Christchurch/Wellington). You will lead the structural design and delivery of high-voltage overhead lines up to 500 kV across ANZ offices.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 8+ years of experience, and advanced proficiency in PLS software; CPEng is preferred. Flexible work arrangements and progression opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline; CPEng preferred.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in transmission line design and delivery.
• Advanced proficiency in PLS software suite.
• Demonstrated experience in high-voltage tower and structure design up to 500kV.
• Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand transmission standards and NSP requirements.
• Senior role within ANZ pre-eminent transmission line engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural and civil design of overhead transmission lines up to 500kV.
• Drive technical delivery across planning, design, and construction phases.
• Perform advanced modelling using PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE.
• Provide technical guidance, quality assurance, and stakeholder engagement across major network projects.
• Apply and interpret ANZ and international standards including AS/NZS 7000, ASCE 74, and ASCE 10.
