Job summary

Tonkin + Taylor seeks an experienced Health & Safety Lead/Manager to oversee HSW across New Zealand. You will lead the HSW team, partner with senior leaders, and shape safe work practices aligned with ISO standards.

The role focuses on building a strong safety culture and delivering practical risk management across projects. You will bring 5+ years of HSW leadership, NEBOSH qualification, and hands-on experience with HIS platforms, applying Human and Organisational Performance principles to

Qualifications

5+ years’ experience in Health and Safety in a similar role.
NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
Experience with Donesafe or similar HIS system.
Experience applying Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles and people-centred behavioural safety approaches.
Strong leadership and coaching skills to develop a Health and Safety team.

Responsibilities

Lead development and continuous improvement of HSW systems to meet legislative requirements.
Provide leadership and coaching to the HSW team and partner with senior leaders.
Foster a positive, people-focused HSW culture with training and engagement initiatives.
Monitor, report and drive HSW performance including incident management and risk control.
Manage stakeholder relationships with external agencies, contractors and suppliers.
