Job summary

KiwiRail in Auckland or Wellington is seeking a General Manager Leadership and Capability to lead a newly formed nationwide function responsible for learning, leadership, and organisational development. You will provide strategic direction and ensure operational excellence in a safety-critical environment.

Qualifications

• Proven senior leadership experience in Leadership and Organisational Development or a broad People & Culture function.
• Experience delivering leadership, capability and organisational development strategies at scale.
• Track record of delivering tools and programmes improving culture and commercial outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder influence across frontline to executive levels.
• Experience leading culture and engagement initiatives in complex operations.
• Commercial acumen including budget management and external partnerships.
• Ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.
• Tertiary qualification in a related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing Leadership & Capability function at national scale.
• Design enterprise-wide leadership and capability strategy aligned to goals.
• Advise senior leaders, the CPO and ELT on leadership development and culture.
• Deliver leadership development programmes and succession initiatives.
• Modernise learning systems, delivery modes and ways of working.
• Build strategic relationships with industry bodies, regulators and providers.
