Job summary

KiwiRail seeks an experienced senior operations leader to unite safe, reliable service delivery with an outstanding onboard customer experience. You will lead a dispersed team and own the operating budget while collaborating with asset, facilities, and commercial teams.

Based in Christchurch, you will drive leadership development, set standards, manage incidents, and ensure customer satisfaction across Great Journeys New Zealand. Travel to Wellington and other sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Senior operational leader with experience leading a sizeable, dispersed workforce.
• Strong safety leadership background in a regulated operation.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts and commercial performance.
• Excellent stakeholder and union relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, reliable service delivery and incident response.
• Oversee catering, onboard service standards and onboard customer experience.
• Own operating budget and cost control; collaborate with asset & facilities teams.
• Develop leaders and drive a high-performing, inclusive culture.
• Travel regularly to Wellington and other locations.
