Job summary

Beyond Recruitment in Wellington is recruiting a Senior People & Culture Advisor (ER/IR) to provide expert employment relations guidance across a complex organisation. You will lead case management, support leaders, and act as the primary liaison with unions, guiding collective bargaining and investigations as needed.

The role requires extensive ER/IR experience, strong NZ legislation knowledge, and proven coaching capabilities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in employment relations matters through to resolution.
• Proven experience leading or participating in collective bargaining.
• Strong knowledge of NZ employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Experience coaching HR practitioners and people leaders.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to balance legal risk with practical outcomes in a unionised environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on complex employment relations matters, including performance, conduct, disciplinary processes and investigations.
• Oversee and quality assure ER case management and risk mitigation.
• Coach HR practitioners and leaders to build capability in managing employment matters.
• Lead the organisation's response to high‑risk employment issues and grievances.
• Conduct workplace investigations and oversee processes where required.
• Act as primary relationship manager with unions and lead bargaining activities.
• Contribute to a positive, high‑trust workplace culture with practical, people‑centred guidance.
