Job summary

Air New Zealand is seeking an HR Advisor with a focus on Employee Relations to partner with leaders, HRBP's and unions. The role involves delivering practical ER guidance, coaching leaders, and supporting changes to ways of working within the People model.

You will help manage risk and deliver outcomes that align with business goals. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in HR/advisory, strong communication skills, and a collaborative coaching mindset.

Qualifications

  • Strong employee relations capability with experience in ER matters.
  • Three+ years in generalist HR or advisory roles.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Collaborative approach with a coaching mindset; interest in AI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, practical ER partnership across cases including misconduct incidents.
  • Collaborate with leaders and unions to navigate complex people matters while managing risk.
  • Coach leaders and develop/workshops to uplift ER capability across the workforce.
  • Support changes to ways of working with Air New Zealand’s People model.
  • Improve ER processes, systems, tools and ways of working to enhance experience.

Due to ongoing internal movements and promotions, we are currently looking for great HR Advisors with experience and a passion for ER to join our journey.

You willpartner closely with leaders, HRBP's and our unionsto navigate complex people matters with confidence, balancing commercial outcomes, employeeexperienceand risk through practical, people-centred advice.

Key responsibilities
  • Providetimely,practicaland consistentpartnershipacross a broad range of employee relations matters, includingpotential misconduct and serious misconductincidents
  • Partner with leadersand union partnersto navigate complex people matters with confidence, helping them make informed decisions while managing risk and deliveringoutcomes.
  • Help strengthen the capability,consistencyand confidence of our people leaders by coachingthemanddeveloping and delivering workshops across our different work areasto help uplift ER capability
  • Support our leaders, unions and people partners with thenew changesto the ways of workingwith our People model
  • Contribute to improving and embedding ER processes, systems,toolsand ways of working to enhance the experience for leaders,employeesand the wider People team.
Whatwe'relooking for
  • Strong employee relations capability, with experience managing a range of ER matters and applying sound judgement in complex situations.
  • Three or more years’ experience in a generalist HR or advisory role, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative approach, a coaching mindset, and a passion for continuously improving the way HR support is delivered, including an appetite for learning more about AI
