Qualifications

• Master's in Environmental Science, Management, Ecology or related field.
• 7+ years in environmental consulting with EIAs and EMP development.
• Strong knowledge of SA environmental legislation (NEMA, MPRDA).
• Experience delivering complex EIA/EMP projects.
• Solid field data collection and sampling techniques.
• Excellent data analysis, reporting and technical communication.
• Stakeholder engagement with government agencies and industry.
• Proficient in data analysis and report writing software.
• Project management including budget and schedules.
• Work independently and in a team; valid driver's license.
• SACNASP registration desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Basic Assessments in accordance with NEMA and other relevant legislation.
• Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and monitoring programs for construction and operational phases of projects.
• Conduct site assessments, baseline studies, and impact evaluations for diverse projects, including energy infrastructure and industrial developments.
• Analyze environmental data (e.g., air quality, water quality, biodiversity) and interpret results to assess potential impacts.
• Prepare high-quality environmental reports, including Scoping Reports, EIA Reports, and EMP Reports, for submission to authorities and clients.
• Facilitate public participation processes and stakeholder engagement, addressing concerns and disseminating information effectively.
• Ensure projects comply with all environmental legislation, permits, and license conditions.
• Provide expert environmental advice and guidance to clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Stay updated on evolving environmental legislation, policies, and best practices.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for assigned environmental projects.
• Conduct environmental audits and gap analyses.
• Mentor junior environmental scientists and support their professional development.
