Placements24 is recruiting an Environmental Compliance Officer to join a manufacturing client in Queenstown (Eastern Cape). The role focuses on ensuring operations meet national environmental laws and internal policies, with site-based oversight to implement compliance measures.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and at least 5 years' experience in compliance or management, plus EMS/auditing know-how and strong communication skills for reporting to management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in environmental compliance or management.
• Strong knowledge of South African environmental legislation (NEMA).
• Experience with EMS and auditing processes.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Responsabilités

• Ensure adherence to environmental laws, regulations, and permits.
• Develop and manage EMS (e.g., ISO 14001).
• Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections.
• Monitor indicators and prepare reports for management and regulators.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver environmental awareness training to staff.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling per regs.
• Liaise with government agencies on compliance matters.
• Stay updated on legislation and advise the company.
