Placements24 is seeking a qualified Remote Mine Environmental Scientist to join a leader in responsible resource development. The role focuses on developing and implementing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), conducting EIAs, and ensuring regulatory compliance for mining projects from a remote location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental management, with significant mining sector focus.
• Proven experience in EMP development and EIAs.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting, and reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reports.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines remotely.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with environmental management systems (ISO 14001).
• Proactive approach to identifying and mitigating environmental risks.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for mining projects.
• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and prepare related documents.
• Monitor environmental performance (water quality, air emissions, waste, biodiversity).
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and standards.
• Provide technical guidance on environmental matters to project teams and stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver environmental training programs for site personnel.
• Investigate and report environmental incidents with corrective actions.
• Contribute to rehabilitation and closure plan development for mine sites.
• Stay updated on emerging environmental issues and best practices.
