Job summary

Napier City Council is seeking an Emergency Management Advisor to strengthen the council's emergency readiness, resilience, and response capabilities. You will develop training programmes, lead readiness exercises, and advise leaders while coordinating with emergency services and regional partners for a safer and more resilient community.

You will lead an emergency management portfolio, translate legislation into practical readiness solutions, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in emergency management (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in emergency management, resilience, readiness, or advisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead emergency management portfolio and provide expert advice and training.
• Develop and deliver readiness training and exercises for stakeholders.
• Monitor compliance and review readiness arrangements to identify gaps.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders for coordinated preparedness.
• Undertake emergency management functions during activations and post-event reviews.
