Job summary

Taituarā is seeking an Emergency Management Advisor for Emergency Management Southland, Invercargill. You will work across Reduction, Readiness, Response and Recovery to boost community preparedness.

You will build relationships, deliver public education, and train staff and volunteers, with rostered on-duty and after-hours commitments as a core part of the role. A Diploma in Emergency Management or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in Emergency Management or related field.
• Experience in Emergency Management systems preferred.
• Organise meetings and engage local community groups.
• Ability to speak at community meetings and events.
• Deliver training for council staff and community partners.
• Proficient with social media usage and online platforms.

Responsibilities

• Proactively build relationships with community and key stakeholders to deliver outcomes that increase preparedness.
• Support communities to develop community response plans.
• Develop and delivering public education programmes.
• Deliver training across the 4R's to Southland council staff, communities and volunteers.
• Actively participate in response to support the Emergency Coordination Centre operations.
• Availability for rostered on-duty obligations and after-hours work is a core part of the role.
