Job summary

Gallagher is seeking a software engineer to lead the design, development and maintenance of embedded software features, from concept through delivery, in a collaborative agile squad.

You will work with hardware engineers, testers and project teams to build reliable solutions, mentor peers and drive technical improvements.

The role requires five years of commercial software experience, Embedded C/C++, Linux/Zephyr, microprocessor knowledge, debugging and strong communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in commercial software development.
• Embedded C/C++ experience.
• Linux and/or Zephyr environments experience.
• Knowledge of microprocessor architecture and digital electronics.
• Experience with debugging, testing and software quality practices.
• Version control systems and modern development tools familiarity.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Bash is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software solutions.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up, debugging and integration.
• Analyze system performance and drive technical improvements.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and lead them through to completion.
• Conduct code reviews and support engineering best practices.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues and defects.
• Mentor and share knowledge with other developers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across products, processes and development standards.
