Job summary

Gallagher Group Limited in Hamilton, NZ, is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop and maintain features for our real-time products. You'll collaborate with hardware, testers and project teams to deliver reliable solutions.

You will own technical initiatives, contribute to architecture decisions, mentor other engineers and help drive quality through code reviews, testing practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• At least five years' experience in commercial software development.
• Strong experience with Embedded C/C++.
• Experience working with Linux and/or Zephyr environments.
• Knowledge of microprocessor architecture and digital electronics.
• Experience with debugging, testing and software quality practices.
• Familiarity with version control systems and modern development tools.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining embedded software solutions.
• Collaborating with hardware engineers on board bring-up, debugging and integration.
• Analysing system performance and driving technical improvements.
• Taking ownership of assigned projects and leading them through to completion.
• Conducting code reviews and supporting engineering best practices.
• Investigating and resolving complex technical issues and defects.
• Mentoring and sharing knowledge with other developers.
