Job summary

Gallagher Animal Management is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop and maintain software features for our security and animal management products. You will collaborate with hardware teams, participate in architecture decisions and mentor junior developers.

The role emphasizes ownership of technical initiatives, delivery of high-quality embedded solutions, and ongoing improvements to development practices in a global product environment.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience in commercial software development.
• Strong experience with Embedded C/C++.
• Experience with Linux and Zephyr environments.
• Knowledge of microprocessor architecture and digital electronics.
• Experience with debugging, testing and software quality practices.
• Familiarity with version control systems and modern development tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining embedded software solutions.
• Collaborating with hardware engineers on board bring-up, debugging and integration.
• Analysing system performance and driving technical improvements.
• Taking ownership of assigned projects and leading them through to completion.
• Conducting code reviews and supporting engineering best practices.
• Investigating and resolving complex technical issues and defects.
• Mentoring and sharing knowledge with other developers.
• Contributing to continuous improvement across products, processes and development standards.
