Job summary

Edison Consulting Group – Wellington Central, North Island invites applications for a Senior Electrical Engineer (Primary). The role supports projects across New Zealand’s energy sector, with offices in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

You will lead primary design deliverables, mentor colleagues, and contribute to design excellence on substations and HV systems. Come join a team that values practical learning, knowledge sharing, and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Significant electrical design engineering experience in HV transmission and/or Substation designs for primary systems, preferably with experience in New Zealand.
• Renewable energy and BESS integration design experience is advantageous.
• A Washington Accord‑accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a higher qualification.
• Proven experience leading design projects or primary design deliverables to a high quality, on time and within budget.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, and project teams.
• Experience using industry-standard design and engineering software relevant to substation design.
• The ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with peers, clients and stakeholders.
• A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• A genuine passion for engineering and developing innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
