Job summary

Seequent seeks a senior Technology Strategy leader to define and accelerate the company’s technology direction, enabling product teams with clear standards, shared capabilities, and scalable delivery.

You will lead architecture, AI services, HPC, and platform data strategy, partnering with Product, Engineering, Security, Data and Operations to drive impactful outcomes. This role is based in Canterbury, NZ, with a global scope and executive responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in software engineering, architecture, platform strategy, shared services, or enablement functions within a global product organization.
• Proven success defining technology strategy, standards, reference architectures and governance models with broad adoption.
• Strong expertise in modern software architecture, cloud platforms, HPC, platform data strategy, and shared tech services.
• Experience delivering machine learning and generative AI capabilities in production with governance and shared-service approaches.
• Deep understanding of how standards and governance enable scalable delivery and long-term sustainability.
• Executive-level stakeholder management to align with Product, Engineering, Security, Data, and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and governance of Seequent's Technology Strategy roadmap, aligning technology investments with business priorities.
• Define and drive software architecture, platform data strategy, and HPC capabilities.
• Establish reference architectures, standards, governance, and reusable patterns across product teams.
• Lead adoption of machine learning and generative AI capabilities with shared platforms and governance.
• Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure strategic technology decisions align with shared capabilities.
• Develop reference implementations, templates, and shared components to improve quality, security and performance.
• Drive adoption through enablement, documentation, training, and architecture engagement models.
• Measure impact of technology investments using adoption, leverage, health, and delivery metrics.
• Build and lead a high-performing global Technology Strategy organization through hiring, coaching and org design.

The Role

Reporting to the Technology Leadership team, this role is responsible for defining and advancing Seequent's technology strategy to accelerate product innovation, scalability, and delivery effectiveness. You will lead the centre of excellence for software architecture, AI services, high-performance computing, and platform data strategy, enabling product teams with clear standards, shared capabilities, and strategic technical direction.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Lead the development and governance of Seequent's Technology Strategy roadmap, aligning technology investments with business, product, and engineering priorities.
• Define and drive software architecture, platform data strategy, and high-performance computing capabilities that support secure, scalable, and high-performing products.
• Establish reference architectures, technical standards, governance models, and reusable patterns that improve consistency and accelerate delivery across product teams.
• Lead the adoption of machine learning and generative AI capabilities, including shared platforms, reusable services, governance frameworks, and AI roadmaps.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, Data, and Technology Operations leaders to ensure strategic technology decisions and shared capabilities are aligned.
• Develop reference implementations, templates, and shared components that improve quality, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Drive adoption of strategic direction through technical enablement, documentation, training, and architecture engagement models.
• Measure and communicate the impact of technology investments using metrics such as standards adoption, platform leverage, architectural health, and delivery acceleration.
• Build and lead a high-performing global Technology Strategy organization through effective hiring, coaching, organizational design, and talent development.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Should Have

• A tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in software engineering, architecture, platform strategy, shared services, or engineering enablement functions within a global product organization.
• Proven success defining technology strategy, technical standards, reference architectures, and governance models that achieve broad adoption across engineering teams.
• Strong expertise in modern software architecture, cloud platforms, high-performance computing, platform data strategy, and shared technology services.
• Practical experience delivering machine learning and generative AI capabilities in production environments, including responsible AI governance and shared-service approaches.
• Deep understanding of how standards, shared platforms, and governance enable scalable product delivery and long-term technical sustainability.
• Executive-level stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and align senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Security, Data, and Operations.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear direction for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong people leadership experience, including building, developing, and leading high-performing global teams.

Additional Information

• Tier 3 after-hours support may be required occasionally.
• Flexibility in working hours may be required to support collaboration across global time zones.
• Responsible for leading a team of professionals, managers, senior managers, and directors.
• Works closely with cross-functional teams to influence technology strategy and product delivery outcomes.
