Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a Senior SolidWorks Designer to take ownership of technically demanding projects, including defence programmes and autonomous platforms. This role goes beyond drafting and requires engineers to drive designs from concept through to manufacture.

You will work on complex 3D assemblies, produce precise drawings for the factory floor, and collaborate closely with manufacturing teams and stakeholders in a lean environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of SolidWorks design experience.
• Ability to model complex assemblies confidently.
• AutoCAD experience is expected.
• Structured approach to work under pressure.
• Genuine passion for making things.
• Exposure to precision manufacturing and demanding engineering standards is an advantage.
• Competitiveness and drive to excel.

We are looking for a Senior SolidWorks Designer to take real ownership of genuinely advanced work. This is not a drafting seat. You will engineer technically demanding, class-approved systems for some of the most exacting clients in the world, including defence programmes and next-generation autonomous platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Drive designs from concept through to manufacture
• Work on complex 3D assemblies and real engineering decisions
• Deliver advanced engineering for some of the most demanding applications on the planet
• Create accurate and clean drawings that go straight to the factory floor
• Work shoulder to shoulder with skilled manufacturing teams and project stakeholders in a lean team environment

About you

• You are genuinely mechanically minded. You have built, fixed and made things with your own hands, at home and at work, and you understand how parts actually go together in the real world.
• Experienced SolidWorks designer with 7+ years experience
• Ability to model complex assemblies confidently
• AutoCAD experience is expected
• Structured approach to work and ability to work well under pressure
• Genuine passion for making things
• Exposure to precision manufacturing and demanding engineering standards is an advantage
