Job summary

Deloitte NZ is seeking a Senior Consultant / Manager with Project Management experience to join our Christchurch team. You will deliver complex client programmes and manage key workstreams, building fit-for-purpose delivery structures and strong client relationships across Deloitte and client environments.

You’ll work across Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery contexts, engage stakeholders at all levels, and contribute to proposals and business development while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager or workstream lead delivering complex projects or components of larger programmes.
• Strong grounding in core project management disciplines (planning, governance, risk, reporting).
• Experience working across Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.
• Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and communicate clearly at different levels.
• Experience managing scope, timelines, and budgets.
• Familiarity with vendor coordination and multi-team environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.
• Prior experience in a consulting or client-facing role is advantageous.
• Relevant certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex client projects or key workstreams within larger programmes.
• Establish fit-for-purpose delivery structures with planning, governance, and reporting.
• Support programme delivery alongside Deloitte and client leaders.
• Provide delivery assurance through health checks, risk identification, and actionable recommendations.
• Assist recovery and stabilisation efforts to bring projects back on track.
• Manage scope, schedules, risks, issues, and dependencies effectively.
• Build strong client relationships as a trusted delivery partner.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams across Deloitte and client environments.
• Contribute to proposals and business development activities.
• Mentor junior team members.
