Job summary

Deloitte NZ is seeking a Senior Consultant / Manager with Project Management experience to join our Christchurch team. You will deliver complex client programmes and manage key workstreams, building fit-for-purpose delivery structures and strong client relationships across Deloitte and client environments.

You’ll work across Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery contexts, engage stakeholders at all levels, and contribute to proposals and business development while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager or workstream lead delivering complex projects or components of larger programmes.
• Strong grounding in core project management disciplines (planning, governance, risk, reporting).
• Experience working across Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.
• Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and communicate clearly at different levels.
• Experience managing scope, timelines, and budgets.
• Familiarity with vendor coordination and multi-team environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.
• Prior experience in a consulting or client-facing role is advantageous.
• Relevant certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with technical and business teams across Deloitte and client environments.
• Contribute to proposals and business development activities.
• Mentor junior team members.

Within this, our Systems Delivery & Modernisation team focuses on pragmatic, high-quality delivery—supporting projects and programmes to land successfully in complex environments.

The Impact You’ll Make

You’ll play a key role in delivering and supporting client programmes and projects, including:

• Managing delivery of complex projects, or key workstreams within broader programmes
• Establishing fit-for-purpose delivery structures, including planning, governance, and reporting
• Supporting programme delivery, working alongside senior client and Deloitte leaders
• Providing delivery assurance, including health checks, risk identification, and practical recommendations
• Supporting recovery and stabilisation efforts, helping bring projects back on track where needed
• Managing key delivery fundamentals—scope, schedule, risks, issues, and dependencies
• Building strong client relationships, becoming a trusted and reliable delivery partner
• Working collaboratively with technical and business teams across Deloitte and client environments
• Contributing to proposals and business development activities
