Job summary

Workday in Auckland is seeking a seasoned Database Engineer to scale and sustain large-scale MySQL and open-source database environments across production and development systems. You will participate in an on-call rotation for critical production issues and drive automation to improve availability and scalability.

You will also help architect both existing and new database services in our production environment, collaborating with global teams while delivering reliable and secure data

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience managing databases for enterprise cloud applications.
• 3+ years with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or private cloud).
• Experience with managed cloud databases (AWS Aurora, Google Cloud SQL).
• Background as Database Engineer/Architect with Linux-based, open-source stacks.
• Proficient in Python or Go, with scripting experience.
• Strong knowledge of containerization, CI/CD, and IaC.
• Experience supporting mission-critical production workloads.
