Job summary

Workday, Inc. is seeking a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer (DevOps) in Auckland, NZ, to shape our cloud platform. You will design automated infrastructure for a distributed microservices stack and own CI/CD pipelines, enabling rapid, reliable feature delivery.

You will collaborate with Platform Engineering to deploy changes, secure systems, and optimize performance across AWS/GCP environments, targeting high SLIs while driving developer productivity and automation.

Qualifications

7+ years DevOps experience.
5+ years database administration experience (Postgres, MariaDB, MSSQL).
4+ years experience orchestrating large scale distributed microservice deployments on Kubernetes and EC2.

Responsibilities

Design infrastructure and automated systems to support our distributed architecture.
Build and Manage CI/CD pipelines and improve reliability and speed.
Trace performance bottlenecks and optimize at infra and application level.
Collaborate with engineering to meet high SLO/SLA requirements.
Maintain highly available web and backend systems serving millions of users.
Configure cloud services on AWS and GCP for new features.
Secure infrastructure at cloud and application layers.
Expand monitoring/alerting with Prometheus/Grafana/OpenSearch integrations.
Establish infrastructure-as-code coverage across the platform.
Develop tools to boost Developer Productivity and automate processes.
