Job summary

Randstad Digital New Zealand is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to apply advanced analytics, ML and AI to regulatory and organisational challenges. You will work with data engineers, analysts and stakeholders to design and deliver models and AI products that inform decisions and improve NZ workplace outcomes.

The role requires hands-on experience across the data science lifecycle, strong Python/SQL skills, and familiarity with cloud/MLOps.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience delivering data science projects end-to-end, from problem definition to deployment and monitoring.
• Strong Python (or R) and SQL skills with experience using core libraries.
• Experience with LLM-based solutions such as RAG, agents or structured extraction, or strong classical ML depth.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and validate advanced analytical models and AI solutions.
• Apply statistical, ML and AI techniques to complex problems and datasets, incl. retrieval-augmented generation, agents and extraction.
• Design evaluation approaches for model outputs with test sets, human review and performance measures.
• Support deployment and monitoring of models and AI products in production.
• Partner with data engineers, analysts and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Set and lift technical practice across the team with code review, reproducibility, documentation and MLOps.
• Mentor and support less experienced data scientists.
• Translate findings into practical insights for decision-makers.
