Job summary

Parliamentary Service New Zealand – Wellington Central, North Island, is seeking a senior data professional to shape the future of the service's data capabilities. You will lead team projects, mentor others and work with colleagues across Parliament to improve how we use data, evidence and insight.

A core part of the role is driving innovation and continuous improvement, turning ideas into practical improvements in data, visualisation, automation and AI.

Qualifications

• Curiosity, initiative and a passion for innovation.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor others, helping build capability and confidence.
• A collaborative and inclusive approach, with the ability to involve others and drive change.
• Experience working with data and evidence, including the ability to understand analytical work and communicate findings.
• An understanding of research or analysis in a responsive service delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for innovation and drive practical improvements in the team's services, tools and ways of working.
• Coach and mentor Data Insights Advisers to build capability, confidence and good practice.
• Build strong relationships across Parliament to access, understand and make effective use of data from a range of sources.
• Lead collaborative data and innovation projects from scoping through to delivery.
• Develop and promote practical tools, templates and reusable approaches for data analysis, visualisation and reporting.
• Support high-quality, consistent data products through collaboration, review and clear analytical and visual standards.
